For a long time, Canggu was a place only locals, ex-pats and surfers knew about. That has certainly changed and now Canggu is a popular place to stay in Bali, especially for digital nomads. Canggu is laid back, with beaches and rice fields and so many <a href=\"https:\/\/almostlanding-bali.com\/where-to-eat-in-canggu\/\">delicious places to eat<\/a>. Firstly, you do need to think about how you will get around before you decide what area to stay in Canggu. If you have your own transport, then you have no limitations there. If you want to be within walking distance of the beach and cafes and don&#8217;t drive a scooter, only specific areas will suit your needs.<\/p>\n<h3>Getting Around<\/h3>\n<p>Canggu is a large and spread-out area, and public transportation options are more limited compared to places like Seminyak. Scooters are a popular way to get around, but unless you have a proper license and experience with Bali\u2019s road conditions, I would recommend avoiding them.<\/p>\n<p>When we stay in Canggu, we choose locations so we can walk or cycle to get around. If you want to be within walking distance of restaurants and shops, I suggest staying near the intersection of Jl. Batu Bolong and Jl. Batu Mejan, and heading towards the beach. This area has a lot of dining and shopping options.<\/p>\n<p>However, keep in mind that Canggu is a large area, so you won\u2019t be able to walk everywhere. It\u2019s best to choose a specific area that you want to explore and base yourself there. Additionally, while some parts of Canggu are walkable, there are few sidewalks or pedestrian-friendly spaces, so walking along the roads is not always safe or enjoyable. You can also walk along the beach to reach different spots.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t hire a scooter, getting around Canggu is a bit different from Seminyak. In Seminyak, you\u2019ll find plenty of Bluebird taxis available for easy transportation. However, in Canggu, there is a local driver system instead, which we\u2019ve found a bit tricky to use. Despite this, you can still use apps like Go-Jek and Grab to get around. These are probably the best options for transportation. Just keep in mind that Canggu can have heavy traffic, so car rides may take longer than expected.<\/p>\n<h3>The Best Areas To Stay In Canggu<\/h3>\n<p>So once you have decided how you will get around Canggu, it&#8217;s easier to decide which area of Canggu to stay in.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So I would divide Canggu into four main areas; Batu Balong, Echo Beach, Berawa and Pererenan. I would say that Batu Bolong and Berawa are perhaps the most popular areas, but they all offer something unique. Here&#8217;s a little bit more about each area.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Batu Balong Beach &amp; Jalan Batu Bolong<\/h4>\n<p>This area is centred around Batu Bolong Beach and the road Jalan Batu Bolong and has always felt like the main area of Canggu to us. There are a lot of <a href=\"https:\/\/almostlanding-bali.com\/where-to-eat-in-canggu\/\">restaurants<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/almostlanding-bali.com\/best-beach-clubs-in-bali\/\">beach bars<\/a> and boutique shops in this area. Near the beach, you will find the Canggu institution Old Man&#8217;s, a laid-back bar where people gather, eat and drink. Batu Bolong beach is a nice part of the beach in Canggu, with surfers, <a href=\"https:\/\/almostlanding-bali.com\/best-warungs-in-canggu-bali\/\">warungs<\/a>, people walking their dogs and relaxed vibes. Not far from Batu Bolong Beach is also where you will find the unique 5-star hotel, <a href=\"https:\/\/almostlanding-bali.com\/hotel-tugu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Hotel Tugu<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Although it is a very busy area, it&#8217;s a great place to stay if you don&#8217;t have a scooter as the beach, shops and <a href=\"https:\/\/almostlanding-bali.com\/where-to-eat-in-canggu\/\">restaurants<\/a> may all be within walking distance of your accommodation. If your aim is to walk everywhere, we probably wouldn&#8217;t stay further away from the beach than say Jalan Tanah Barak area. This is our pick for where to stay in Canggu for a first-time visit and the best area to stay if you want to walk to get around.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Echo Beach<\/h4>\n<p>The Echo Beach area is near Batu Balong Beach but has a *slightly* less busy feeling. This area includes the roads Jalan Pantai Batu Mejan (near the beach) and Jalan Padang Linjong further away from the beach. The area near the beach is busier with beach bars like La Brisa Bali. It&#8217;s also home to the beautiful luxury 5-star hotel <a href=\"https:\/\/almostlanding-bali.com\/como-uma-can\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Como Uma Canggu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Jalan Padang Linjong is a little less developed so you will still see some beautiful greenery and a more local feel. Although you can still find great cafes like Copenhagen and yoga studios like Samadi along this road. Samadi also has a great Sunday Market with organic local farmers and artisans.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Berawa &amp; Jalan Pantai Berawa<\/h4>\n<p>Another popular area is Berawa. This area is centred around <strong>Jalan Pantai Berawa<\/strong> and is a little more spread out but it&#8217;s a beautiful area with <a href=\"https:\/\/almostlanding-bali.com\/where-to-eat-in-canggu\/\">restaurants, cafes<\/a>, shops, Berawa beach and Finns beach club. Berawa is just north of the Batu Belig area of Seminyak (one of my favourite areas of Seminyak), so it also has closer access to Seminyak than the other areas of Canggu.<\/p>\n<p>Certain areas in Berawa would also be great options to stay in if you don&#8217;t have your own transport as there are a lot of food options and the beach, but I do find this area to be a little more spread out when compared to the Batu Bolong area.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Pererenan<\/h4>\n<p>Pererenan is the area around the road <strong>Jalan Pantai Pererenan <\/strong>and<strong> Pererenan Beach<\/strong>. This area is the most peaceful and has beautiful rice fields (although there are fewer rice fields here as development continues at a fast pace). Having said that, it&#8217;s also a little more removed from the rest of Canggu. You will need to go further to get to the other areas of Canggu if you stay here, but the beautiful surroundings are worth it, especially if you have a scooter.<\/p>\n<p>I probably wouldn&#8217;t recommend staying in Pererenan if you don&#8217;t have your own transport unless you intend to mainly be in this area. The main exception would be if you stay within walking distance of Pererenan beach, as there is now a walking bridge from Pererenan to the Echo Beach area.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Pererenan is the best area to stay in Canggu if you&#8217;re looking for a little more tranquility.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1545 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" alt=\"Rice Field Canggu\" width=\"690\" height=\"518\" data-src=\"https:\/\/legendsespresso.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/rice-field-canggu.jpg\"><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"days\">How Long To Stay In Canggu?<\/h2>\n<p>How many days you need in Canggu really depends on why you are visiting. If you&#8217;re visiting as part of your Bali holiday, then I would say 3 nights would be a nice amount of time to <a href=\"https:\/\/almostlanding-bali.com\/where-to-eat-in-canggu\/\">eat in some of the cafes<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/almostlanding-bali.com\/best-warungs-in-canggu-bali\/\">warungs<\/a>, go to the beach and see the area. There aren&#8217;t a lot of sights to see in Canggu, it&#8217;s more about enjoying the lifestyle. As you have most things you will need at Desa Hay, including an on-site restaurant, you can make the most of the quieter surroundings. Some suites have private plunge pools, whilst others can still enjoy the grand outdoor pool. There is also a restaurant and spa.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Located in a beautiful quiet area of Pererenan, best suited to those who have their own transport.
